- God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three (the Trinity) are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Matthew 28:19).
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, and an equal member of the Trinity (John 1:1-5). Jesus led a sinless life, and He died to take away the sins of the world. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again someday to judge the living and the dead.
- The Holy Bible is our authority, and we are evangelical in doctrine.
- Salvation is God’s free gift to all and is accepted on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ as one’s leader and forgiver. The moment one turns from self-rule to Christ’s rule and abandons self-improvement schemes and good works which can never take away sin, God sends the Holy Spirit who forgives the sin and creates a new person. This re-birth brings eternal life and salvation, preparing one for heaven. Without it one will not see God but be banished to hell, a place of torment. Both heaven and hell are actual places of eternal existence.
- Water Baptism is the outward symbol of an inner, spiritual work that has occurred in a believer’s life. This outward symbol represents a person’s death to their old life and a rising to new life in Christ. We are baptized in water to follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and because He has instructed us to do so as well.
- Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience which initiates a decisively new awareness of the all powerful presence of God working in one’s life and usually involves one or more spiritual gifts. This is a different experience from water baptism and is normal and expected of a Christian since God promised it to us.
